Shiho would ultimately manage very well with the unit, surviving the latter part of the Bloody Valentine War with an impressive kill record, and later proving effective in ZAFT's backing of the USSA in its secetion from the Alliance. Due to her success with the DEEP Arms, the experimental unit she was given was assigned permanently to her, allowing her to continue to adjust and modify the suit as she saw fit. The result was a DEEP Arms with drastically increased reaction time, as well as an improved beam generator allowing for an increased rate of fire and a decrease in excess energy consumption. The suit also sported a standard CGUE's shield vulcan grafted onto the left arm for additional secondary firepower, and an extra set of vernier thrusters in the calf and shoulder regions to increase the effectiveness of the operating system's heightened reaction. With the suit able to dart around the battlefield quicker and discharge its arsenal with greater spectacle, Shiho's rookie nickname of "hausenka"-given to her for her ability to fire in all directions and resemble a hausenka in bloom-gained greater use among her peers, and eventually became her custom DEEP Arms' official designation. Shiho would continue to use this personal DEEP Arms unit even as ZAFT's New Millennium contract brought in higher performance suits like the ZAKU and GOUF lines. Her capability with the suit allowed her to remain on par with most pilots using these units, despite her own suit growing rapidly out of date. Even when the Jule Team was inducted into FAITH, she refused to upgrade to a "more becoming" unit for a member of the group. Unfortunately, she would eventually be forced into a new unit by circumstance, as the Hausenka would be damaged beyond repair during ZAFT's initial battles with LOGOS upon their public outing.
