I spent an hour or so fiddling around and made a page outlining my progress with my trace-the-Negima-girls project. Yes, those are the manga designs - I couldn’t find a decent set of them in Shaft’s style. Most of them are close enough, with a few deviations in hair colour.

Not much to say here. I’m tired so I wanted to do a quckie today (I tend to do traces on Friday nights because I’m staying up to grab Kanon), and I’ve always quite liked Sakurako. I’m really glad that they changed her hair colour again. Akamatsu can’t seem to decide if he wants her hair a light shade of red or blonde - it seems to sit in between - but Xebec’s dark red was absolutely horrible and didn’t fit her personality whatsoever. The blonde that Shaft have gone with is quite appropriate, I think.
Not sure who I’ll do next. I’ve had a few suggestions, but I often end up just selecting one that catches my fancy at the time. In unrelated news, I am 23 today. Or actually, yesterday, since we’re one hour into Saturday now.
There’s a bad joke about blonde cheerleaders in there somewhere, I’m sure of it.
Yeah, I’m back from New Zealand. Finally got Evangeline done. I ended up having to completely re-draw the hand on her hips. Check out the original eyecatch and pay specific attention to how many fingers she has. Whoops. Additionally the brown linework made her shoes impossibly hard, and the area of blazer around her wrist was a mess. I basically re-drew these areas, in the case of the linework recycling the shoe lines from my Makie trace. Overall I’m pretty happy with how this has turned out.
I’ve also done an alternative version which uses dark brown lines like in the eyecatch. I like how this one looks more than the standard black lines, but your mileage may vary.
I ended up using up all my creative energy on Makie that weekend, so I only got the one done. Then this weekend I ended up being quite busy. I started Evangeline on Friday but ended up stopping a little way in. Saturday I was up late playing Final Fantasy XII and to be honest I forgot about things, and then Sunday I was busy all day and then went to see U2 in concert with my sister. I might get her done before Wednesday, but I don’t think I will - it’s going to be really hot tonight and tomorrow. 
Additionally, this weekend is my Dad’s 50th Birthday so I’m travelling to New Zealand on Thursday morning. As such you probably won’t see any more traces from me for at least another week. Sorry if anyone was anticipating it (though I doubt anyone was).
Since it’s sort of relevant… my plan at this point was to do Evangeline, then I’m not really sure. While I have said I want to get them all done, and that is still a goal, realistically I mainly want to make sure I also get Haruna, Asuna, Kazumi, Chisame, Mana, Chao and maybe Ayaka done. The rest of them are just bonus. Still, I may do some of the other girls before these if people want them, and if I decide I want to so some quick and easy ones. Feel free to suggest stuff. I can’t guarantee I’ll do them in the order suggested, but if a lot of people are asking for something then I’ll try and do it.
Makie! I looked at this image a few weeks ago and I really wanted to trace it, but there was text all over it and I wrote it off as being impossible, as I would have to basically re-draw a hand and an entire leg, and I’m not much of an artist. I gave it a go anyway, and it turned out that I managed to get her leg looking pretty much spot-on, and the hand looking pretty good. Overall I’m very happy with how this turned out looking.
Don’t expect another flood of Negima traces from me this weekend. Last weekend was special. I may get a second one done, but I wouldn’t count on it, and definitely not on any more than two for the weekend. And no, I have absolutely no idea who I will do next.
