In the end, after about nine separate attempts using different approaches I wasn’t able to get EiEn-acg’s raw to re-encode correctly. I don’t know if it’s a problem with my setup or with my raw or with the phase of the moon or anything. Utterly mystifying. Additionally this delay has seriously eaten into the time I’d allowed for doing ep 6 this weekend. I’ll still try, but don’t expect to see it until a few days into next week.
Anyway, rather than just pack up and go home, I decided to just release with the current raw. EiEn-acg use CQ encoding, which essentially means constant quality at the expense of unpredictable file sizes. This means that for high-motion episodes like ep 1 and ep 5, the file size is significantly bigger. On the upside, the quality on this is excellent.
Other than that, exactly the same deal as the previous four. Chapters, Karaoke & no-Karaoke subs, h264 video, AC3 audio. Using yesy’s subs, again with a few minor edits to improve readability - there were a couple of sentences in this episode which really didn’t make sense, so I reworded them to have the same meaning but read better. If I’ve done my job right you shouldn’t even notice.

Sorry guys, I’ve run into what is at the moment a showstopper. Ep 5’s sub is done, ready to go. The problem is that my raw for ep 5 is a little over 500mb. Given the number of complaints about ep 1 being 400mb, I’ve got no intention of releasing something as big as this. From what I can see, the size is because EiEn-acg encode with the same settings for each episode, so episodes with a lot of action like ep 1 and ep 5 end up being much bigger simply due to the amount of motion in them.
I sort of know what I’m doing with video encoding, so I was able to produce a 300mb encode which looked excellent. The snag? For some reason, bits of the video are cut out of where you would normally expect to see them and appended to the end of the file. I’ll keep hammering away at things, but I’m not too proud to admit that this is not an area that I’m highly experienced in and it’s probably something stupid I’m doing wrong. If anyone happens to have any clues please let me know.

Yes, I’m still doing these. Various life-related activities (including Nagi getting me addicted to WoW) stopped me getting these done two weeks ago when they were fresh. This time, I had a little help from Coxswain Balls, who is actually able to somehow get Subrip to sometimes produce relatively correct output, which has sped me up significantly. Pretty much the same deal as episodes 1-3 - EiEn-acg raws (h264 video, AC3 audio), yesy’s subs, once again used without permission because I’m an evil subtitle thief. Two subtitle streams, karaoke and non-karaoke (though without the stupid, distracting effects that fansubbers love). Some minor edits have been made to the dialogue here and there to clean up the grammar, add clarity and readability - you shouldn’t notice the difference. And it has chapters. I don’t know what it is with all these groups moving to MKV recently but not bothering to make a chapters file, it takes all of two minutes.
Eps 1-3 seem to be unseeded so I’ll hop back on them once this torrent is healthy. I don’t have a lot of upstream bandwidth though so if you can spare some and you have those episodes, any help would be appreciated.

Third episode done. That’s all for now, until the next DVD is released in Japan. I noticed this episode’s was a little more rough in parts than the previous two, so I have made a few minor edits to the dialogue (mainly adding missing words, changing a couple of words that didn’t make sense, and dropping some redundant commas) in order to improve clarity. Same deal as the previous two, other than that. DVD video (h264 compressed) and AC3 audio, sourced from EiEn-acg. Subtitles originally by Yesy. This is completely unoffical and constructed without permission from Yesy. Once again, I had to re-create the subtitles by hand, so there may be minor errors in timing. Didn’t notice anything glaringly wrong when I went over it, though.

Episode 2 is done and ready to go. Once again, DVD video (h264 compressed) and AC3 audio, sourced from EiEn-acg. Subtitles originally by Yesy. This is completely unoffical and constructed without permission from Yesy. This time I had to re-create and re-time the subs by hand, so it’s possible this may have introduced errors. Please let me know if you see any. Other than that, should be pretty much the same deal as last time, though the file is ~80mb smaller and I didn’t ham up the filename by misspelling ‘Unofficial’ and forgetting to mark that yes, it was indeed episode one.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I changed Zafila to Zafira. I don’t care what the website says, spelling it with an l is clearly wrong, because the car model they nicked his name from is spelt Zafira.
