Mai-HiME episodes 19-26

So, after my fourteen-episode Mai-HiME marathon on Sunday, what do you think I did Monday evening when I got home from classes and work? If your guess involves me sitting down and blasting through the final eight episodes of the series, then congratulations. You’ve earned a cookie. Honestly, the last time I can recall going through a series this fast was Zeta Gundam, downing the last four DVDs in one single sitting one evening a ways back. Mai-HiME was just that addicting, and was one of the few shows I’ve seen lately that remained a thoroughly enjoyable ride from start to finish. So what do we have with this final batch of episodes? Well, we have the series getting darker than ever, tension increasing exponentially with each successive installment up to the climax, and then…the ending. The ending that everyone talks about, few positively. So let’s get on with it, shall we?

Mai-HiME episodes 11-18

Ah, Mai-HiME episodes 11-18. Really getting into the thick of things with the series, going from one heavy story arc meant to shock viewers to attention, to the next which only shocks even more. Ever since about episode 6 or 7, this show has only gotten continuously better and more intriguing with each passing episode, with this little group of episodes thus far proving to be the most attention-grabbing to date. I don’t really have much else to say to introduce this entry, so let’s just get right down to things, shall we?

Mai-HiME episodes 5-10

So, on a whim yesterday I decided to watch a pretty sizeable chunk of Mai-HiME. Figured I’d watch the next four episodes…and six episodes later I decided enough was enough for one day, and stopped. Then I watched eight more episodes after that. So I’m up to 18 now, and hopelessly addicted to this series. I figured I’d do a blog entry and give my overall impression of things, but seeing as I watched a total 14 episodes in one day, I’ve decided to save all of us a lot of crying and suffering by breaking up what I watched into episodes 5-10 and episodes 11-18 (the point where I lied to myself that I’d stop, then binged some more). For this entry, 5-10, we have the introduction of two new favourite characters, and the beginning of things turning really dark, really quick.

Mai-HiME episodes 1-4

Wow…Mai-HiME. No, I’m not behind the times at all, right? Just now starting on this series when its quasi-sequel remake thingy premieres later this week? Wait, of course I am. Seriously though, this was one of those dozen or so series I got maybe one or two episodes into before reluctantly having to drop them because BitTrickle went too damned slow to keep up (credit to Negs for the “BitTrickle” thing). The farthest I got into Mai-HiME was some drowning girl with a sword cutting up a boat fighting some hot chick with a robo-dog who later appeared in a metric shit-ton of lesbian hentai with a rather domineering blond woman, all the while this big-breasted redhead watched from the side-lines like, trying not to die & all. Seemed rather interesting, but like I said, I had to drop it because other series had my attention and I lacked the download speed to keep up with everything. Gundam SEED Destiny of all things, too; sucked royal to watch that show plummet week by week while this one just garnered more and more praise from everyone. Luckily though, my internet got faster and I discovered that wonderful invention known as XDCC, so now I’m able to go back and pick up those last-year series that wound up being the subject of everyone’s coversations. Like Mai-HiME. Yay.

NegativeZero is a lazy bastard

I haven’t made a substantial update here in ages. My last major update was about six weeks ago. This one’s going to be kind of unstructured, just talking about what I’ve been up to as far as anime goes. Also, with the new season coming up very soon, I’ll talk briefly about what I intend to watch.

The chief reason for all this is that I’ve been sick, and additionally have been extremely busy. For those that care, I’m nearing my final few weeks in my Honours degree, I’m swamped with assignments, and I’ve kind of lost motivation. Just want to end it.
