If you read my earlier entries on this series, you probably already know a little about it. Jinki: Extend, at its core, isn’t really that incredible. However, the way it’s been written and executed is extremely good, maintaining a sense of mystery and intrigue througout the series. I’ve seen to episode 11, and I know there are some people who have had trouble sorting out exactly what’s going on, so let’s discuss the plot. Consider this a spoiler warning.

There are currently three subbers working on Jinki: Extend - AnimeYuki, ANBU and Nanashi. Which is the best to get? I did a slightly pedantic but reasonably detailed side-by-side analysis of the first episode offerings from all three groups, and was mildly surprised with the results.

Nanashi are awesome for actually subbing this series. I’m not sure what’s up with all the other subbers, but they seem to be too busy subbing shit, stuff they started last month, or Air (why is everyone subbing Air?)
Finally, someone is subbing this series and actually doing a reasonable job. I was sort of hoping one of the bigger groups would pick it up, such as AnimeYuki, but Nanashi’s done a pretty good job. To boot, they’ve managed to get HDTV raws, as the frame is roughly twice the size of the raws I was watching. Visual sex, even for a series like this which doesn’t have incredibly detailed character animation.
Downloaded a raw after hearing that this one was good from various sources. It is.
