Yeah, I know, it’s been a while since I did any bloggings. College and some other things came up and I simply didn’t have time to get around to it. Hell, I haven’t even been watching much animu, period, and have simply been letting fansubs and DVDs pile up around my ears, mostly untouched. But with graduation fast approaching, I figured now was a good time to get back into things and finally make good on my promise to do regular blog entries for PBB. For this first entry in who-knows-how-many-months, I’ve got a show I’ve been dying to see, a show I’m well overdue to finish, and first impressions on two shows from this current spring season.
Monthly Archive for April, 2007
Graf Eisen done as promised, along with a combined shot replicating how the three appear in the Strikers OP. Can’t guarantee that the next trace will be another of these, but you never know. Anyway, I don’t know how but I’ve quite badly screwed up the magic circle’s glow. It’s got a very stepped appearance. Don’t know how I caused that.
It detracts a bit from the finished product but it was an utter bitch to get the circle on the right angle and perspective so I don’t want to re-create it, especially if it produces the same problem again.
Klarwind. I spent ages on this but it still ended up looking kind of crap. There’s an annoying bit of aliasing in the background too - the glow is stepped. Nothing I can do about it it seems, I think it’s a limitation in the number of greens that 32-bit colour can show, combined with the fact that the human eye can pick out more shades of green than it can red or blue.
Graf Eisen tomorrow, along with a combined trace with the three belka weapons together.
Laevatein, Signum’s armed device. The image I’ve traced this from also has Graf Eisen and Klarwind in it, so I’ll probably make separate traces for them and then do a combined one replicating the original image. Before anyone asks, it’s not Bardiche because the Bardiche image in the Strikers OP will be super-hard to do and I’m lazy this week. Once again, I didn’t trace the magic circle, I stole it. ![]()
Raising Heart Excelion, first one from me in a while and possibly the first in a series, though my last series of traces ended in disaster so I’m not comitting to anything. I did not trace the magic circle, before anyone asks. I nicked it from here. 1920×1200 only on this one, I can see no way to crop it to 1600×1200 without losing bits, and if I wanted to expand it up and down then Raising Heart would end up looking a bit small and forlorn in the middle. Not to mention I’d have to draw more of it and probably fuck it up.
