Since I’ve finally caught up as of a few days ago, I thought I might post a few predictions and whatnot about the show before the next episode airs. If you are not up to episode 21, I suggest you don’t read this, as it will definitely be spoilerific.

You know what sucks? Starting a trace, then watching more of a show and discovering you absolutely hate the character.
Here’s Paraietta. I’m running out of girls to do, and eyecatches to choose at the same time. I want to finish doing all of the girls individually before I do a few of the multi-character eyecatches. I definitely intend to do 13-1, 15-2 and 21-1.
So this leaves me with Kaimu, Floe, Rodoreamon and Limone to go. I’m not really sure what order I’ll do them in. Probably Kaimu or Limone first, since they have better eyecatches. Rodoreamon’s eyecatches so far have all been paired, except the one with her hugging that mutant plushie, and I prefer her with short hair. Floe’s eyecatches are all horrible, really.
I’m hoping some good material for those two shows up in the last 5 eps.
I’m feeling a little idle at work at the moment, so I thought I’d wax lyrical about Simoun for a bit. I’ve broken down and obtained the raws & softsubs which have been floating about in various interweb locations, so I expect to get up to speed on the series pretty soon. Simoun-Fans do a really admirable job… but I just can’t wait any more.
For a long time now, pretty much since the series began, I’ve been getting a strange sense of nostalgia while watching. I thought perhaps it was hitting some cues or re-treading some oft-untread turf, but I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was, and more importantly, why it was causing such a reaction in me.
A few years back, I was recommended a little anime series called Boogiepop Phantom by a friend here in Australia. After spying the first volume on the cheap in HMV, I decided I’d give it a look, and I was very glad I did. Delightfully creepy and masterfully written, each episode switched to a different character and highlighted another facet of the overall plot. I really enjoyed it, and recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit more cerebral in their anime.
But this isn’t a rant about how good the anime is. Instead, I want to whine about the novels. Nagi (who is also a big fan of the series) and I were both very excited to hear that small-time manga publisher Seven Seas had picked up the novels and were translating them. I waited, and then waited, then waited some more. Then a stunning chain of events occurred, leaving me quite bitter towards Seven Seas, along with partners in crime Borders.
Angry rant ahead. You have been warned.
