I said last week that I’d post my impressions of some of the stuff that’s started this season which I didn’t originally say I intended to watch. It’s almost inevitable that every season there are one or two series that slip under the radar. In this case there are several, and several of them are very good. Overall when these are added into the mix this is an absolutely excellent season. Covered in this update: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Black Lagoon, High School Girls, Ouran High School Host Club, Inkukami, Magical Pokaan and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Dakki (who probably none of you know at the moment) and I have been working on cleaning up a Banner of the Stars III DVD rip that was released a few weeks ago. It was based off the old ANBU sub and basically just had some extra scenes that were in the DVD release subbed. Unfortunately being from the pedigree it is, the spellings are all in the ‘correct’ Baronh, which is absolutely disgusting to read. Keyboard vomit stuff, like if your cat walked on it and you forgot to fix it up. Essentially we have converted the subs to a text format and done a fair bit of editing and re-timing, primarily changing the names of characters and places to match up with the Official Banner of the Stars anime releases. Additionally, Sobaash is not a man. And an Empress is not the same thing as an Emperor.
These subs should be much easier to read. Also we’ve muxed it into an MKV which is a little easier to deal with. Originally subtitled by ANBU, further scenes subbed by Acidstealth. We ripped off these subs without permission. Sorry. It’s probably the only way we’d actually manage to get a release out.

Yeah, it’s been a while since my last update. Two weeks, to be exact. Basically, classes started back for me and I’ve been kinda struggling to adapt to having to wake up in the morning again (as opposed to…weekend afternoon), all the while trying to knock out my first projects for the term. I don’t care what people say, I enjoy rigging CG characters (I just wish the knees wouldn’t bend backwards so much…). Anyway, since Negs has taken care of (or is almost done taking care of) previewing this season’s new offerings, I’m just going to proceed right along with updating what I’ve been watching of late. Been playing a bit of catch-up in order to partake in some of this quarter’s second season offerings first & foremost, as well as getting ahead of Adult Swim and starting on some of the new season stuff I find interesting.
Oh, and I should point out that lately I’ve been delving rather heavily into a pair of reasonably popular fan-made Fate/stay night fighting games, Fate/sword dance and Fatal/Fake. At some point this week (or more than likely early this weekend), look for my review of both of those. It should be interesting.

This update is about a week later than it should be. I’ve been pretty much worked off my feet over the last week at work. In fact, up until last night I had barely watched a thing - I went three days straight without watching any anime at all. Though my copy of Volume 1 of Robot did arrive and I’ve read through that twice now. Incredible book, if you get a chance, you should definitely pick it up. Anyway, in this update I’ll have a chat about the remaining series from the ones I announced my intentions to view - Himawari, Yume Tsukai, xxxHolic, .hack//ROOTS, Zegapain and Nana.

Discounting Tsubasa (starts at the end of April) there are two new seasons of existing series, which I will talk about very briefly (they’re basically more of the same) and then I’ll be breaking the remaining series into two groups of six.
