While this blog is primarily about anime, I am both a gamer and a programmer, and thus the state of the games industry is one which is of interest to me. I know that many of the more hardcore anime fans are of similar persuasion.
Anyway, It’s not that long since E3, the Electronics Entertainment Expo. Of course, the big thing everyone was talking about were the new console announcements. Sony’s Playstation 3, Microsoft’s Xbox360, and Nintendo’s secretive ‘Revolution’. Now, everyone’s probably sick to the back teeth of hearing about these, so I’m not going to talk about the hardware specifically. What I’m more interested in is the philosophies which drive them. Unfortunately, I believe we may be looking at the death of games as we know them.

It would seem PinkuBentoBox has a new writer. Name’s Nagi; I used to run AthrunZala.org until I…stopped. Got a bit stuck, no one was reading, and naming my blog after a character I was losing interest in kinda led to me no longer updating there. Ah well, but Negs asked if I’d be interested in posting again on here, so I figured I’d go for it.

Trace Wallpaper of Shinku from Rozen Maiden. I was asked to do this AGES ago, but only recently remembered and got around to it. It turned out really nice - used an experimental style for the linework, and used a different technique for her eyes which worked out nicely.
I actually completed this over a week ago, but then conveniently forgot I’m supposed to maintain a blog.

Well, I got sick of Serendipity. It’s a nice package and all, but it still needs a lot of spit and polish before it’s quite as good as it could be.
I’ve migrated to wordpress. Built a Serendipity 0.8 -> Wordpress 1.5.1 database converter myself, from scratch, because Wordpress doesn’t support one yet. Mine does most of the important stuff, though I couldn’t figure out how wordpress handles trackbacks so I couldn’t build in support for that, and also Wordpress uses different password encryption to s9y so I decided not to have it import users. If people want to get copies, then I’ll clean it up and release it.
If you notice anything looking a little… funky… then the cause is probably some artifact left behind in the conversion process.

This has been pretty much inevitable for a while, but what surprises me is that no one’s commented on it at all. No news posts, no announcements, and certainly none of the *chan discussion you’d have expected to accompany a fan-favourite. Is this actually accurate? I don’t know. I hope it is though.
