Only one episode away from the ending. 
This is a gem of a series, I’m going to miss it.
Anyway, I sat down today to watch the newly released ep 11 and realised I hadn’t watched ep 10. Watched both.
While this is a great series, episode 10 was kind of weak in comparison to some of the crackers we’ve had so far. This episode was chiefly focused around Sasahara’s ganguro sister Megumi, who has the hots for Kohsaka, despite how often Saki smacks her. They go to the beach, and give us one of the more amusing quotes of the series - “It’s embarassing to go to ComiFes with a tan”. I love you, Madrame…
The episode was really about the trials of being an Otaku’s girlfriend. It had some amusing moments (Megumi being highly interested in Ohno’s yaoi collection for example) but overall was a little weak.
Episode 11, Saki’s transformation to an Otaku finally took the step we were all waiting for. She browbeats Genshiken into discarding all their old doujinshi and magazines, which she then accidentally sets fire to, causing a massive blaze. Genshiken is shut down, and to boot Ohno gets sick after Saki throws a bucket of rancid water on her, so she can’t compete in the cosplay competition.
Saki is then forced to take Ohno’s place as Genshiken’s entry in the cosplay event. Dressed up as the ‘president’, Ritsuko Kübel Kettenkrad, from Genshiken’s made-up anime Kujibiki Unbalance (someone sub the OAVs please). Catching some loser who was filming video of the cosplayers from a low angle, she turned out to perfectly match Kettenkrad’s behavior, causing a massive uproar. And she looked pretty cute. We’d been expecting this cosplay to happen for quite a while, but I was personally expecting it to happen in ep 12. Ah well.
The last episode appears to involve the end of Genshiken. I’m sure they’ll end up keeping the club though. GENSHIKEN BANZAI!
