Dakki (who probably none of you know at the moment) and I have been working on cleaning up a Banner of the Stars III DVD rip that was released a few weeks ago. It was based off the old ANBU sub and basically just had some extra scenes that were in the DVD release subbed. Unfortunately being from the pedigree it is, the spellings are all in the ‘correct’ Baronh, which is absolutely disgusting to read. Keyboard vomit stuff, like if your cat walked on it and you forgot to fix it up. Essentially we have converted the subs to a text format and done a fair bit of editing and re-timing, primarily changing the names of characters and places to match up with the Official Banner of the Stars anime releases. Additionally, Sobaash is not a man. And an Empress is not the same thing as an Emperor.
These subs should be much easier to read. Also we’ve muxed it into an MKV which is a little easier to deal with. Originally subtitled by ANBU, further scenes subbed by Acidstealth. We ripped off these subs without permission. Sorry. It’s probably the only way we’d actually manage to get a release out.

Hey I just wanted to say thank you for bringing this to Bots fans! I was pleasantly surprised by how clean this version looked. I had a much easier time reading the sub as well. As to the translation I have already deleated the other version that I had so I could not do a proper comparison. I sure hope you will pick up or redo other projects as time permits you. Any one wondering if it is worth it to get this version, it most certainly is!!!

also do you know if they will every make a “Ayorioshi” season 3(sorry i think i misspelled it).

Hi, in accordance with the decision of The Abh Nation’s members to remove the sub due to legal issues with hosting it, I must insist you remove the torrent file, the link, and all other materials you have redistributed without permission, which is in violation of the TOS you agreed to when you downloaded the sub from the site.
If you fail to comply we will turn you in to Bandai, which has been suing fansub distributors, and/or we may pursue possible legal action.

It is no longer seeded. In fact, I don’t think it’s been seeded for months. Perhaps you should have had a whine back in April.
Additionally, none of us agreed to a TOS - we didn’t download it from your site at all. You clearly don’t understand how the internet works. Once you put something online, it will end up making its way somewhere else. Legally, you can’t put a TOS agreement on the fansub (though you can on the website). If you want to put a ‘legal’ agreement on the sub, then what you’re wanting is an End User License Agreement (EULA). No EULA has ever been held up in court, and it is not a legally binding document unless both parties sign it.
The OAVs are unlicensed at this point. Bandai USA are unlikely to sue for something they don’t own. Bandai Visual don’t give a fuck. And if they’re going to consider suing fansubbers, there are hundreds of groups they would prefer to go after, such as Nanashi for example, who last I checked are still releasing Eureka 7.
I also take offense at being called an ‘uneducated fool’ simply because it doesn’t use ‘proper’ (read: incomprehensible) Baronh. Your timing was bad, your editing terrible, and several anime facts (such as Sobash’s gender) were wrong. Additionally, the edits we made to spellings bring the translation in line with the official translations in Bandai’s DVD releases and Tokyopop’s novel translation. Finally, the subtitle format you used is unwiedly and horrible. Putting it into a proper SSA and muxing the thing into a decent container should have been something you’d done off the bat.
Finally, I don’t really care if your forum buddies circlejerk and shake their fists ineffectually at us. You’re not the copyright holder. If Bandai directly contacts me and politely asks me to remove a link to a dead torrent, then I will do so. I don’t see any reason to comply with the wishes of a bunch of self-important elitists hanging out in their intarweb forum bunker. I’m a busy adult with no time for internet drama.

We don’t appreciate, nor do I appreciate you referring to True Baronh as “keyboard vomit stuff”. You are an uneducated fool who knows little to nothing about the series and you have no respect for it either. Bandai Baronh isn’t accurate at all, and TOKYOPOP Baronh leaves room for improvement as well. Unlike yourself, we actually made our own sub. We did not just rip it from ANBU, hence why ours is much longer and better done. We also have connections with some of the VA’s and Morioka himself. Only furthering the statement that you are the uneducated fool, not us.
As for a TOS, you obviously got it from someone who posted at least 50 posts to get the sub, and also agreed to the download terms.
Myself and members of The Abh Nation don’t appreciate you taking our stuff and modding it to your own liking and calling our original work “keyboard vomit”, “disgusting to read” and “elitist”.

As for Bandai, I was obviously referring to the Japanese branch, not the American branch that did the shitty translation of Baronh in the first place.
Um, he didn’t say it was his own. He stated in the original post where was it was obtained and who had done it first and reasons as to why he was modifying it. If your proper BaronH was incomprehensible, then there’s something wrong with the idea of subbing it for an english release. As to your connection to the VA’s and Morioka, why don’t you get them to come here and explain it?

I have to say, I can’t see any moral gains here by forgetting to mention to Bandai that you did the same thing when trying to do some kind of vigilante C&D thing.
Not that most Japanese companies ever make any move to indicate they believe other countries actually exist.
Also I just want to say that the unintentionally hilarious word “frybar” is a constant minor distraction in those Tokyopop novels. Seriously it’s bugging me!

Now please stop, this is my first experience with fansubbing eDrama and I’m enjoying it tremendously. I do have one little bone to pick with you, though:

I suppose we could have, if we’d thought those guys asked the ANBU crew, who, remember, did about 99% of the actual work on this sub we’re all arguing over. Asking for a courtesy you didn’t extend to someone else is a little bit weird, isn’t it?
Now, as for the lawsuit thing, let’s keep in mind that a) the torrent is dead and has been for a while, and b) you guys were distributing this thing first. I have absolutely no say in how this place is run but Negz already stated he’d remove that link if the copyright holder (the only entity that actually has a right to do so) asks him to.
And LOL frybar.
Additionally, I’d like to point out that originally I was re-editing the subtitles into a decent format because a) VobSub looks like shit on good hardware and mainly b) while I have no trouble reading Baronh, I don’t like having to pause every few minutes and pore over a spelling that has far too many consonants and looks nothing like what I’m used to reading. Until I obtained Tokyopop’s recent novel release, I had not read the novels. My exposure is 100% anime, and via the official channels. Like most people, I’d wager.
Insisting that I am somehow a lesser being because I prefer a phonetic spelling to ‘authentic’ Baronh spellings is somewhat akin to insisting that Tolkien should have written all his Elvish in Tengwar. I don’t want to have to do a huge pile of extra research in order to be able to interpret english subtitles for anime I watch. Just like I do not have to understand the nuances of Quenya to enjoy reading Lord of the Rings, or have been married in authentic klingon garb in order to appreciate Star Trek, or be well versed in the Hutt breeding cycles in order to be able to say that I quite liked that Star Wars flick. This is no different.
Dakki helped me edit the sub, because he wanted it too. The ANBU and your own releases frustrated us immensely, to the point that it seriously hurt our enjoyment of the OAV. And then when I talked about it with several other people in various circles who also enjoy the series, I got a pretty much unanimous ‘I’d really like to get a copy of that’. So we decided to make it available. This is why we released it. Not to try and steal credit - in fact, I don’t believe you’ll find our names anywhere in the sub - but because we wanted to put an alternative edit out there.
I apoligize if I miscredited your translation work. I assumed that given that the package which I obtained had a great big photograph of someone, marked ACIDSTEALTH, that he must have been responsible for the translation.
I see no reason to remove a link to a dead torrent. Though I might have had the request been a polite request, rather than a (admittedly amusing) ultimatum.
Amusing note: I think this is the second longest comment thread on the site, next to the Sakura trace I did which has a gigantic pile of mexicans asking WHERE DA EPISODEZ AT?!?!?!?! At least I think they’re saying that, I don’t speak spanish.
