Yep. Viz seem to have been sitting on the anime license for a while, since they’ve already got a street date for vol 1. This is some of the best anime news ever, since FMoS is one of the best shoujo series out there but there was thought to be no chance for it to ever get a release outside the US due to its focus on singing.
The box had better come with lots of ribbons and pinku, so I can ‘hide’ it from people and when they find it be all “UWAAAA YOU CAUGHT ME” and then make them watch it.
Shame it had to be Viz, though. Substandard dub, packaging, episode count, pricing, they’re becoming gradually less trustworthy to produce an uncut release, and perhaps most damning of all for this series, they don’t exactly have a great track record when it comes to handling songs. Chances are, we’ll have dubbed and un-subtitled songs here when all’s said and done.
Shame a Geneon or a RightStuf couldn’t have pounced on this one. Geneon’s done some of the all-around highest quality releases of the past year or so R1-wise, while RightStuf just has a knack for showing cult popular series the red carpet treatment (y helo thar boogiepop).
I would like to see what full moon would sound like in english. But Viz isn’t a good one though because i don’t know they sound not all that great when they dubbed the other series.
I hope they choose a good singer for full moon and the rest of the characters.
But i really want to see what it is about in the dubbed version. i know it is a big task but i hope they can do their best to show how great this anime is!
