When Idiots Attack

Unfortunately we don’t have a :V smiley to properly convey how amusing this was. Apparently, “[we] need help, better yet therapy” because “anime sucks”.

One thing about the internet which can be both amusing and irritating is that there’s never a shortage of utter morons to pop out of the woodwork when you least expect it. We recieved several comments from one such, attempting to convince us that Anime is a terrible hobby and we need to grow up and sign his anti-anime petition. Thank you sir, you made my day substantially more amusing.

“I think anime sucks, I can’t believe a bunch of morons would want to sit and watch cartoon for two hours or more. Is just amazing how many threads I find of people discussing their favorite little cartoon. I just got tire and had to say something. I will not let my friends be engulfed by these stupid anime things with their big eyes and their incredibly horrendous themes. God help you guys!”

Unless Nagi hasn’t been telling us something, I’m pretty sure neither of us know who this guy is. Some random internet crazy. Anyway, we’re suddenly his ‘friends’ and he’s attempting to stage some kind of online intervention. Touching.

“You got to be kidding me. A person would write a whole page describing a “review” on some show. Man, yoy guys need help, better yet therapy. Do not be offended by my comments I am just trying to help.”

I’d give some sarcastic commentary on the first part of this one, but I’m not even sure it makes sense, and the whole comment pretty much makes fun of itself.

“Look, man, I am right here to help you guys. Please visit anime sucks petition and sign up and stop being a little kid watching cartoons. For goodness sake I feel as though I were taking “crazy pills” navigating the web and finding these stupid posts. Guys, please do grow up!”

Your eloquent arguments have swayed me sir. I wish to kick this disgusting, childish habit. I will now proceed directly to your petition and sign it repeatedly until such time as my fingers start bleeding from excessive mousing. After all, we can’t have people being disgusted because other people like things they don’t and mention it over the internet. It must be terrible having a gun held to your head and having to visit websites like this.

    Laff. Laff and a haff.

I have to admit, I always find internet idiots amusing. And now there’s one right on my information superhighway back door! Awesome! Anyway, damned if I know where this guy came from. Probably followed me from ANN or something. There were a couple spammers there a couple days ago just trolling with generic “i haet animu” nonsense. And it doesn’t take too much to figure out that being a hardass moderator will make you a few enemies. But yeah, aside from that possibility, I have no clue.

Also, funny how he asked us to sign his petition, and yet never provided a link to it. Yes, I’m gonna hop right on over to a site I can’t find. Excellent work, good sir. Also, what exactly would an “anti-anime” petition accomplish? A carpet-bombing of Japan to rid the world of the source? And this is assuming ANY online petition has EVER actually worked. Which…yeah, hasn’t.

If it’s the same petition I’ve seen, it’s sarcastic humor. Pretty ironic, unless I’m missing something here…

I wonder what this individual considers appropiate entertainment? Wrestling, NASCAR and C-SPAN, perhaps?

I dunno, didn’t Disney decide to include the Japanese soundtrack with Princess Mononoke after a large web petition?

These are the type of people who are closed-minded and they are the same as those who will not try to understand the culture of another country or another person. Hey, but everyone is entitled to his opinion I guess.

Any REAL C-Span aficionado is above the level of making interweb petitions.
